Zakopane

We will start exploring Zakopane from the walk along Krupówki Street.

Krupówki Street is situated in the centre of Zakopane.

In the XVII century there was a pastoral trail along which sheep were driven for a pasturage on a mountaing pasture called “Wielki Redyk”.

More than a hundred years ago workers of a local forge were going home this way, then more and more tourists and patients who were coming to the town were walking along this street.

Today Krupówki Street is the most famous promenade in the whole country and a compulsory point in exploring Zakopane. There are numerous
cafés, restaurants and regional taverns.
One can have some rest in friendly atmosphere, meet friends, listen to music and eat well.

GUBAŁÓWKA

In order to get to Gubałówka it is enough to go down the Krupówki Street, go through market place to the funicular station.

Trip I. A great trip for everyone,  regardless of age, we are going to start from going to Gubałówka by funicular.

In the bottom cashier’s window we buy a promotional combined ticket for KL-T Gubałówka and KL Butorowy Wierch (reduced fare 8zł, full fare 10zł). Even going by a modern car to Gubałówka will be a source of unforgettable impressions. Then we have an amazing view for the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane which is situated at the bottom of Gubałówka.

Next we get to the railway in Szymaszkowa Street and after half an hour we reach the top station of KL Butorowy Wierch. Half an hour walk along Gubałówka is not only a relax but it is also the possibility to admire the panorama of the Tatra Mountains the whole time. We go downhill by Butorowy Wierch chairlift on the ticket bought beforehand and then either by bus or or foot we go back to the centre of the town. There is also a coach park at the bottom station KL Butorowy Wierch.

Trip II. We start our hike from the bottom station of KL Butorowy Wierch and go to Gubałówka.

From Gubałówka (1123 m above the sea level) numerous bicycle and walking routes branch to such picturesque villages as Ząb, Nowe Bystre, Poronin, Dzianisz, Kościelisko and Chochołów.

The panoramic map on the top station helps find the topographical layout.

On Gubałówka we encourage you to visit: a drag lift Polana Gubałówki

ATTENTION! Children under 8 can use the slide only when supervised by an adult.

KASPROWY WIERCH

Kasprowy Wierch is 1987 m high summit in the Western Tatras. It towers over the following valleys: Bystra, Sucha Woda Gąsiennicowa and Cicha Liptowska. The summit lies on the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains between Beskid and Pośredni Goryczkowy.

The summit’s name comes from Hala Kasprowa (Kasprowa Mountain Pasture) where in former times highlanders used to pasture their cattle and sheep.

According to folk tales, the owner of this mountain pasture was probably a highlander called Kasper. But Kasprowy Wierch gained its popularity not until the 30’s of the past century when the first ropeway in Poland was introduced.

The process of building the ropeway to Kasprowy Wierch started on 1 August 1935 and on 26 February 1936,  the ropeway from Kuźnice to Myślenickie Turnie was launched. The first silver car reached Kasprowy Wierch on Sunday, 15 March 1936 after 227 days of constructing.

It was an event of special importance in the world at that time. Man, thanks to his obstinacy and hard work, overcame all the difficulties and what seemed to be impossible for many people became real. Until now, everyone who wants to see mountains from close up can reach to the top of Kasprowy Wierch in 12 minutes - in summer to admire the beautiful panorama of Tatras, in winter to ski.

The ropeway to Kasprowy Wierch was the first device of this type in Poland and the first one in the whole Tatras.

Just below the summit of Kasprowy Wierch (1985 m over the sea level), where the highest meteorological observatory is situated, the top ropeway station is located. From the terrace just by the station one can admire the beautiful panorama of the Krywań summit, and on the left – Świnica and Kościelec mountain range.

At the bottom we have Gąsiennicowy Corrie, especially wellliked by skiers. The most popular trails from Kasprowy Wierch lead to Świnica (2301m over the sea level) and further along Orla Percia to other summits and to Czerwone Wierchy and Hala Gąsiennicowa (Gąsiennicowa Mountain Pasture). We encourage hikers to take walking routes, eg. The access to Kasprowy Wierch: from Kużnice through Myślenickie Turnie (about 3,5 hours).

The descend from Kasprowy Wierch: through Hala Gąsiennicowa (Gąsiennicowa Mountain Pasture) to the hostel Murowaniec situated there, then through Boczań or Jaworzynka (3 hours). A walking tour to Kasprowy Wierch will take us the whole day. Going by ropeway bothways will take us only 2,5 hours.

Kasprowy Wierch is a haven for skiers – When being on Kasprowy Wierch you have to visit:

Gąsiennicowa Chairlift

Goryczkowa Chairlift
