Landscape-wise, Malopolska is very varied. In the south there are the towering Tatras, the only Polish alpine mountains. The Beskidy are gentle mountain ranges with beautiful woods, fields and valley lakes.
The calcareous Pieniny are quite different, and the place where the river Dunajec breaks through the mountains is a monument of nature of world-wide significance.
