country is in the Mazovia region.

It is said very often about Poland as the “Heart of Europe” but the term should be related to the Mazovia region. Poland is in the centre of Europe but Mazovia region is in the centre of Poland. The Mazovia Province is the largest one in Poland. Its area is 35 598 square kilometres that is about 11% of the area of Poland.

Mazovia is the region with great landscape virtues; the region varied in natural landscapes.

For many foreigners Mazovia is first of all the region of verdure and natural landscapes and very often considered as the essence of Polish nature. In spite of the fact that the largest city of Poland is located in the Mazovia region however it has preserved many of its natural characters.
The landscape is varied and the farming with the dominant of farm lands and orchards are in the most of its area. Forests manly pine or oaken ones cover

20 % of area of the region. They are generally accessible in opposite to other forest regions in Europe.

 

Only the Kampinos Forest near Warsaw in the Mazovia region has been preserved from all the forest sections which were in the past in Europe. It is one of important forest complexes in Poland and also national park situated several kilometres from the limits of the city.

In the forests grew on dunes, among others live the animals like; elks, lynxes, beavers and badgers. Moreover, important forest complexes are White Forest and Kozienice Forest in the region.

The preservation of natural landscapes is supported by high standards of environmental protection maintained. In the respect of the size of protected areas Poland takes one of the leading places in Europe.

Protected area is 30% of the entire area of Poland. Taking into account the nature aspect, the most interesting places in Europe are unregulated sections of rivers where dozens of species of birds live. Typical for landscape of the region are storks.

Every fourth European stork live in the territory of Poland. The nets established on roofs of some houses by storks are typical element of Mazovian landscape. The Mazovia region means also beautiful and valuable monuments which are for the good permanent pride of Poland. See you in the Mazovia region.
